ASSIGNMENT: Finally, create a blog post summarizing your experiences in this professional development program. You can be as honest as you would like. Include your original expectations and whether those expectations were met. Also include one new useful idea/skill that you learned and anything that you were hoping to learn that was not covered. You can add this to your existing blog or you can send me a private message through your LMS.
BLOG POST:
I wasn't sure what to expect from this course as I am pretty technologically savvy user. In the beginning of the course I was frustrated with some of the very basic information that was covered (what is a web site, what is a blog, etc.) I was looking for some "new to me" resources, and in the first few sessions did not feel that was accomplished.
However, as the class progressed there was definitely resources that were presented that were "new to me." I am very excited about LMS and plan to incorporate that in my lesson planning for next year.
I am a very quick learner/adapter. I felt that the course was at a much slower pace than I needed. However, for newer technology users, the pace would have been appropriate. I think that this is much more of "my" issue as a learner - than it is a global critique of the course.
I don't know what else I was hoping to learn, aside from "new to me" resources. The idea of a webquest is interesting, however given that I teach parent/child hebrew - i haven't figured out the best way to utilize that with my course material. I am debating doing something with assigning each partner their own blessing, having to upload pictures of the thing you are blessing, or the act of the student doing the blessing, uploading audio of you reciting the blessing, and having the kids write a paragraph about how they feel about that blessing and then having everyone check out each other's work and comment on each others. Could be interesting - just trying to figure out if it can fit into my coursework and if the parents will be accepting of that type of use of technology. I think they will.
